Privacy
In short: no cookies, no ads, and we share nothing with others beyond what's written here. We just count whether anyone is watching.
Visitor numbers
We count visits with Umami, which runs on our own server. We store which page you see, which page you came from, your browser, your operating system, your device type, screen size, language, and which country, region and city you're in. We also count when someone uses one of the site's buttons, such as starting the video, voting or giving hay, but not what you write.
Country, region and city are worked out from your IP address, but the IP address itself is never stored. To count you as one visitor, an anonymous code is made from your IP address, your browser and a secret value that changes every month. No cookies are used.
The guestbook
If you write a greeting, we store your name, your greeting and when it was sent, and it's shown on the site straight away. We delete greetings that don't belong here. If you want your own deleted, we'll delete it.
To stop spam, the server remembers your IP address for an hour, so the same sender can't send lots of greetings at once. It's only kept in memory and is never stored.
We can get new greetings and Easter letters as a message on our phone through the ntfy service. The message includes the text and, for greetings, the name, but never your IP address. For Easter letters, the name isn't included.
The wishlist and gifts
If you give a gift via Ko-fi or MobilePay, we only store the amount, when it was given and Ko-fi's number for the payment, so the wishlist can show how far we've got. We see your name at Ko-fi or MobilePay, but it isn't stored here, and the site never shows who gave. Ko-fi and MobilePay have their own privacy rules.
When you vote for a wish, the server remembers your IP address for 24 hours, so the same sender can't vote many times. It's only kept in memory and is never stored. Your own browser remembers which wishes you've voted for.
Give hay
When you give hay, the server remembers your IP address for 24 hours, so the same sender can't give away all of the day's hay. It's only kept in memory and is never stored. We only store when hay was given, not who gave it.
Easter letters
If you send an Easter letter, we store the verse, your name and when it was sent. The verse is shown on the site straight away, but your name only as dots, one for each letter. If someone guesses your name, they're told it's right. On Easter Monday everyone can see who sent the letters, and on 1 May the server deletes all Easter letters and names by itself. So only write your first name.
To stop spam and guessing from a list of names, the server remembers your IP address for at most 24 hours. It's only kept in memory and is never stored.
The live video
The camera only films inside the rabbit house, and the video isn't recorded. Every 5 minutes we save a still photo, which is shown on the front page. Every night the day's photos become a short timelapse. The photos and the timelapse are deleted again after two days. When we feed the rabbits, you can see us in the picture.
Nobody else is involved
The site loads nothing from Google, Facebook or anyone else. Everything comes from our own server, including the fonts.
